Corruption Uncovered: IRS Officer Under CBI Scrutiny
The CBI has conducted searches in Gujarat and Rajasthan linked to IRS officer Santosh Karnani, accused of corruption and amassing disproportionate assets. Alongside his wife Arti, he is alleged to have acquired illegal assets surpassing Rs 1.31 crore, and invested these in properties across various cities.

In a significant crackdown on alleged corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) executed searches at 11 locations in Gujarat and Rajasthan, targeting IRS officer Santosh Karnani. The 2005-batch official is accused of misusing his position for illicit enrichment.
The probe is focused on properties linked to Karnani in Gandhinagar, Ahemdabad, and Jaipur. Allegations of seeking bribes from a builder and the involvement of family members have also surfaced.
Both Santosh Karnani and his wife, Arti, have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The CBI claims that the couple amassed assets worth Rs 1.31 crore, exceeding 156% of their legitimate earnings, through corrupt practices and property investments in major cities.
