The Indian government, facing rising tensions with Pakistan, has instructed OTT platforms and social media intermediaries to halt streaming of content originating from Pakistan. This directive aligns with recent Indian military operations aimed at targeting terrorist sites in Pakistan.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued this advisory as a necessary measure to safeguard national security, following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, linked to Pakistan by state and non-state actors.
Referring to the Information Technology Rules, 2021, the ministry emphasized that content should not threaten India's unity and security. Additionally, it warned of potential misinformation from Pakistan, urging caution among users.
