In the wake of escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, Odisha's Chief Minister Mochan Charan Majhi announced decisive action to ensure the safety of Odia students studying in northern and western India. A 24-hour help desk has been established at the Resident Commissioner's Office in New Delhi to facilitate the operation.
The state government, showing proactive measures, has arranged a special train to transport the students from Delhi back to Odisha. This initiative comes as a precaution after students from institutions, particularly in conflict-prone areas like Jammu, were relocated to the national capital following recent hostile drone attacks.
The efforts were spearheaded under the supervision of five senior officers to assist Odia students. Many students had to vacate campuses, such as Central Sanskrit University, due to safety concerns, and have received support from Odisha's government to reach Delhi. A helpline is available for those seeking to join the special train back home.
