A Bangladeshi family of six, including four minors, has been apprehended by Delhi police for illegally residing in the city's Bawana area, officials disclosed on Monday.

Sahidul Hossain, 45, alongside his wife Parul Begum, 35, and their children, had been living in India for over five years without valid documentation, posing as Indian citizens. Initially, they denied their Bangladeshi roots during questioning. However, subsequent interrogation led to the discovery of Bangladeshi identity cards, prompting a confession.

The family entered India illegally in 2019 through West Bengal, crossing into the country via unfenced fields after leaving their village in Bangladesh's Kurigram district. They later moved to Delhi, where Hossain found work in Haryana's brick kilns, integrating into the unorganized labor force. Efforts to deport them are now in progress.
