The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its probe into the mob attack on BJP leader Priyangu Pandey by filing a supplemental chargesheet against four individuals. The latest indictment brings the total number of accused to 18, of which 17 have been apprehended while one remains on the run.
The agency charged Pious Prasad, Md Tipu, Mohit Mahato, and Md Javed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act. The attack occurred last year during Pandey's journey to meet former MP Arjun Singh, when his convoy, traveling near the Anglo Indian Jute Mill staff quarters, was assaulted with firearms and explosives.
As a result of the attack, Pandey's driver Ravi Verma and his aide Rabi Singh sustained gunshot injuries, highlighting the gravity of the assault. The NIA's continued investigation seeks to unravel the full scope of the conspiracy and bring all perpetrators to justice.
