On Monday, several workers of the Jan Suraaj Party staged a protest outside the residence of Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey in Patna, resulting in their detention.
The party's working president, Manoj Bharti, was among those detained, amid demands for Pandey's resignation over the tragic case of an 11-year-old rape victim who died after being allegedly neglected by the state health system.
Bharti held the state government and health minister accountable, criticizing the administration for its insensitivity and calling the incident a reflection of the systemic failure that led to the girl's avoidable death.
