On Tuesday, senior IPS officer Ravada A Chandrasekhar officially assumed the role of Kerala State Police Chief at the police headquarters. His appointment, decided by the Left government, follows the retirement of his predecessor, Shaik Darvesh Saheb.
Amid a formal welcome from senior officers and the handover ceremony led by ADGP (Law and Order) H Venkatesh, Chandrasekhar expressed optimism about his new responsibilities and acknowledged the forthcoming challenges. He prioritized the intensification of the state's anti-drug campaign, pledging to bolster awareness initiatives and ensure strict action against drug offenders, particularly peddlers.
Moreover, addressing crimes against women, Chandrasekhar labeled the issue as grave, vowing prompt and decisive measures against perpetrators. During his briefing, he also committed to investigating public grievances, as evidenced when approached directly by a complainant at the conference.
