The Bombay High Court has acquitted 12 individuals previously charged in connection with the 7/11 Mumbai train blasts, which claimed over 180 lives in 2006. This landmark judgment, delivered Monday, cited the prosecution's failure to substantiate the allegations against the accused.
Following the verdict, seven of the acquitted individuals walked free from prisons across Maharashtra, including Nagpur, Amravati, and Pune. Ehtesham Siddiqui and Mohammad Ali were among those released, having faced severe charges, including a death sentence and life imprisonment, respectively.
However, not all acquitted individuals have been released, as some face unrelated legal proceedings. The court's ruling has prompted discussions on the judicial process and the earlier conviction based on insufficient evidence.
