Supreme Court Pressures Minister Shah Over Apology to Army Officer

The Supreme Court expressed its dissatisfaction with Madhya Pradesh Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah on Monday for failing to issue a public apology over controversial remarks directed at Indian Army officer Col Sofiya Qureshi. The court criticized Shah, suggesting he was testing their patience.

A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi highlighted the minister's conduct as questionable, prompting doubts regarding his sincerity and intentions. Despite Shah's Senior Advocate K Parmeshwar claiming an apology was publicly posted online, the court demanded a formal record of it.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed as per the court's directive, is investigating the incident, with a report due by August 13. Meanwhile, a plea for Shah's resignation was dismissed but will face scrutiny in past instances as per a related petition. Further developments are expected in the next hearing set for August 18.
