Cross-Border Crackdown: Seizing Smugglers and Contraband

The BSF in Meghalaya apprehended 116 Bangladesh nationals and seized contraband, including 622 cattle and other items worth over Rs 7.5 crore along the India-Bangladesh border. Coordinating with Meghalaya Police, the operation prioritized security and welfare, emphasizing an intelligence-driven, community-sensitive approach.

In a significant border operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya has apprehended 116 Bangladesh nationals and seized contraband goods, including 622 cattle worth Rs 6.2 crore, over the past three months. Other smuggled items valued at over Rs 1.3 crore have also been recovered.

The operation, conducted between April 25 and July 25 along the India-Bangladesh border, resulted in the capture of 150 individuals, including 34 Indian nationals. The seized contraband included Yaba tablets, ganja, liquor, cosmetics, garments, and mobile display units.

All operations were executed in coordination with the Meghalaya Police. A BSF spokesperson emphasized that the force remains committed to an intelligence-driven, community-sensitive approach, ensuring both national security and the well-being of border residents.
