The Supreme Court of India has delivered a landmark judgment upholding the conviction and sentencing of a man for raping his minor daughter in Himachal Pradesh. Court emphasized that such incestuous acts destroy familial trust, warranting severe condemnation and punishment.
In their August 4 ruling, Justices Aravind Kumar and Sandeep Kumar reiterated that women's dignity is non-negotiable, urging the legal system to avoid misinterpreting such principles under misplaced sympathy or procedural fairness. The court mandated a compensation of Rs 10.50 lakh for the survivor.
Rejecting pleas for leniency, the court stressed the need for a resolute legal voice against such crimes, citing a cultural and constitutional vision that honors women's sanctity. The denial of interim bail and firm stance against rehabilitation for the convict underscore the court's commitment to justice.
