The appointment of Lata Sharanagat as an additional director in Madhya Pradesh's women and child development department has provoked protests from senior officials. The appointment of Lata Sharanagat as an additional director in the Women and Child Development (WCD) department of Madhya Pradesh has sparked controversy and protests among government officials. With her 'junior' status being a primary point of contention, officials argue she lacks the experience required for the top post.

On Tuesday, officials from the WCD department met with the minister, Nirmala Bhuria, in Bhopal to voice their objections to Sharanagat's appointment. They highlighted that appointments for additional director positions traditionally come from senior members within the department, not through the general administration department as in Sharanagat's case.

Bhuria conceded their protest, stating she would take necessary actions to address their grievances. Officials including Dr. Sandhya Vyas expressed their discontent, fearing that Sharanagat's appointment infringes upon the seniority and expertise required to manage the key welfare schemes administered by the department.
