Rajasthan Congress Slams BJP over Election Delays

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra criticized the BJP state government for delaying local body and panchayat elections, calling it a constitutional violation. The 'Swaraj Bachao Rally' highlighted demands including immediate elections and the opposition to arbitrary delimitation and election norms. Allegations of inadequate funds and ignored welfare issues were also made.

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra has leveled accusations against the BJP-led state government, alleging intentional delays in local body and panchayat elections. Dotasra has labeled this delay a breach of constitutional provisions and court orders.

Addressing the ''Swaraj Bachao Rally'' organized by the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Organisation, Dotasra outlined key demands, including immediate panchayat and municipal elections, objection to arbitrary delimitation, and the abolition of the two-child election norm.

Alongside him, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully pointed out the state's failure in conducting timely panchayat polls and suspending student union elections, which he claims aims to silence youth voices. Jully also spotlighted issues like delayed MGNREGA wages and insufficient central funding for gram panchayats. Following the rally, Congress leaders marched to the Shaheed Smarak, submitting a demand memorandum.
