Army Chief Asim Munir Denies Remarks About Imran Khan

The Pakistan Army refuted claims that its chief, Asim Munir, made remarks about former Prime Minister Imran Khan during a personal meeting. Munir allegedly demanded an apology from Khan for political reconciliation. Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry clarified that the remarks were exaggerated and not accurate.

The Pakistan Army has officially denied media reports suggesting that its chief, Asim Munir, made comments regarding jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

A controversy arose when journalist Suhail Warraich claimed that Munir had asked for a political apology from Khan during a conversation in Brussels. Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry refuted these claims, emphasizing that Munir did not mention Khan or demand an apology during any meeting.

Chaudhry stressed that there is no change in the Army's policy towards those involved in the May 9, 2023 riots, where military installations were vandalized. He insisted that legal accountability should prevail for those actions.
