A college student, identified as Isha Mallik, was reportedly shot dead by her former boyfriend in West Bengal's Nadia district, as per police reports received on Monday.
The fatal incident occurred in Manikpara, under the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station, during the afternoon hours.
Authorities stated that Isha, who was only 19 years old, ended a long-standing relationship with Debraj, her now-accused ex. Despite their breakup, Debraj frequently visited Isha's residence and pursued her, escalating tensions between them.
Eyewitnesses reported that Debraj, who was familiar with Isha's family, was spotted running from the scene brandishing a country-made revolver. The tragic discovery of Isha's body, in a severely wounded state, was made by her mother in the family's drawing room.
Statements from the SP of Krishnanagar, K Amarnath reveal that Isha succumbed to her injuries at Shaktinagar Hospital, where medical staff confirmed two gunshot wounds on her body. Following this harrowing event, law enforcement has launched a manhunt for Debraj, a resident of Mohanpur.
