The YSRCP has initiated a statewide protest dubbed 'Chalo Medical College' against the TDP-led government's alleged privatisation of government medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the YSRCP, ten out of seventeen medical colleges established during the previous Jagam Mohan Reddy administration are at risk of privatisation, which allegedly aims to benefit vested interests.
The party contends this move will undermine the healthcare infrastructure and disrupt affordable medical education, prompting peaceful demonstrations led by students and youth. Attempts to suppress the protest by placing senior opposition leaders under house arrest have also been reported.
