Polish prosecutors have formally charged two Russian citizens with acting as spies for Russian intelligence, a situation that has drawn significant international attention due to rising tensions in Europe.

One of the individuals, known as Igor R. under Polish privacy regulations, is also accused of planning to dispatch a parcel bomb, an act for which a Ukrainian citizen had been charged previously. The parcel was said to contain sophisticated explosive components.

The pair, which includes Igor R. and his wife Irina, also allegedly provided intelligence on Russian dissidents in Poland to Moscow. These charges surface as European nations remain vigilant following several bombing incidents attributed to Russia earlier this year.
