In a decisive action against illegal gambling, Andhra Pradesh police have arrested 11 individuals associated with a gambling operation, recovering cash and other items valued at over Rs 19 lakh. The crackdown, as reported by an official on Thursday, targeted a site near Nakkavanipalem village.

Leading the illegal activities was Jerripothula Shiva, a 30-year-old resident of Donkada Colony in Aganampudi village, who operated a restaurant doubling as a base for coordinating gambling sessions. The police, acting on credible information, conducted a raid on October 21, apprehending participants while some managed to escape.

The seized items included Rs 19 lakh in cash, 17 mobile phones, and vehicles. Legal charges have been filed under the Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act, 1974, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, aiming to curb such illicit activities in the future.
