A Pakistani court has delivered a death sentence to a 21-year-old individual, Muhammad Abbas, for the murder of his mother and three sisters. The case is a stark reminder of the persistent issue of honour killings in the region.

The court proceedings revealed that Abbas, driven by suspicions about the character of the women, carried out this brutal act in Kabirwala, a location approximately 290 kilometers from Lahore.

According to official figures from the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, over 15,000 honour killings were recorded between 2004 and 2016, indicating a troubling societal issue often resolved outside legal frameworks.
