The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the Centre's challenge against the Calcutta High Court's order mandating the prospective implementation of MGNREGA in West Bengal.
The bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta determined the high court's directive, effective August 1, 2025, required no intervention.
This decision supports the high court's stance that, although the scheme has faced delays, strict conditions by the Centre should ensure its seamless execution without irregularities.
