Uproar ensued in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly after Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather rejected a BJP motion for adjournment regarding the humanitarian crisis following recent natural disasters. The Speaker argued that the issue had already been addressed, but BJP members persisted, causing disruptions.
At the assembly's commencement, Pawan Gupta, a BJP MLA from Udhampur West, urged to adjourn the Question Hour to discuss the crisis further. However, Rather denied the request, asserting that comprehensive answers had already been delivered and further discussion was unwarranted.
Amidst the chaos, the Speaker reminded the assembly that a resolution on the matter would be addressed the following day. Despite tensions remaining high, the Speaker managed to resume order and continued with the session, following which governmental estimates of agricultural losses due to the floods were announced.
