Bribery Scandal: Odisha ASI Caught in the Act
An assistant sub-inspector in Odisha was caught by vigilance officials for accepting a bribe to favor a complainant in a domestic violence case. The complainant reported the demand, leading to the ASI's arrest. The case is under investigation. Separately, a retired clerk was convicted in another vigilance case.

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Odisha Police was apprehended by vigilance officers as he allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a complainant in Koraput district on Tuesday.
ASI Narasingha Dora from B Singhpur police station was arrested, alongside a private individual, Sunadhara Amanatya, for allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe to offer undue advantages in a domestic violence case, according to a statement from the Vigilance Directorate.
Dora was investigating the case and allegedly threatened the complainant with severe action unless the bribe was paid. The complainant reported the demand to vigilance authorities, who set a trap to catch the duo while accepting the money. Concurrent searches occurred at two locations linked to the ASI. The Koraput Vigilance police station has registered a case as investigations continue.
