On Tuesday, the Congress Party launched scathing allegations against the Election Commission, accusing it of participating in a 'sinister design' aimed at undermining democracy and targeting opposition entities through the substantial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
In an assertive move, Congress announced plans for a protest rally at Ramleela Maidan in early December, citing the EC's disappointing conduct during the SIR, which allegedly facilitates the deletion of targeted voters. Key figures like Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former leader Rahul Gandhi expressed concerns over the potential misuse of the process.
Congress claims the BJP is exploiting the SIR to conduct 'vote chori', with the EC turning a blind eye, thereby undermining the democratic framework. Kharge assured vigilance against voter list manipulations, while K C Venugopal emphasized the necessity for impartiality in electoral processes.
