The state of Rajasthan has achieved a significant milestone, mapping 78% of its voters in an ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. This effort has seen over 9,000 polling booths reaching full completion, driven by the diligent work of Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
Chief Election Officer Naveen Mahajan announced that the initiative, which started on November 4, aims to increase the mapping to 85%, thereby allowing a majority of the electorate to bypass additional documentation for verification. The success of this program is attributed to technological efficiency, teamwork, and vigilant district-level monitoring.
While the efforts have been lauded, challenges persist with the well-being of BLOs, as stress-related incidents were reported, including two fatalities. Measures are being implemented to provide stress relief and support, especially highlighting the participation of persons with disabilities as a positive advancement in the process.
