In an urgent directive, West Bengal officials have been tasked with uploading details of undisputed Waqf properties to the Centre's UMID portal, following a time-sensitive compliance order from the Union government. This move aims to meet the December 6 deadline set by national authorities.
Efforts are underway across districts to facilitate data entry, with meetings organized between district magistrates, imams, muezzins, and madrasa teachers to clarify the upload process. Facilitation centers are being established wherever technical assistance is required to ensure seamless operations.
Despite facing challenges, including complaints of non-cooperation from the State Waqf Board, the state's Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department has emphasized the importance of adhering to the timeline, as no stay order has been issued by the Supreme Court against the revised Waqf Act provisions.
