In an effort to streamline the upcoming Census 2027, a pre-test exercise has begun in South Delhi to evaluate the efficacy of digital processes involved, officials confirmed on Friday.
The Delhi government's Revenue department is spearheading this digital transformation for the Census, which will occur over two phases starting in April 2026. This initial test aims to determine the adequacy of the new digital applications and methodologies.
A senior official noted that the trial involves about 2,000 participants and focuses on testing a mobile app, data collection methods, and logistical arrangements. The exercise, commencing on November 10, will end this Sunday, setting the groundwork for the country's first fully digital Census.
