In a disturbing incident in Salon, Uttar Pradesh, electoral officials were assaulted while conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The assault was reportedly orchestrated by the sitting village pradhan and his father, leading to legal action.
The incident unfolded as BLO Aarti Yadav and lekhpal Avinash were collecting voter verification forms in Pure Ahiran Mohaddi Nagar. The accused, Deepak Yadav and his father Krishna Yadav, allegedly tore the documents and impeded the officials' duties.
Senior authorities, including Salon Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chandra Prakash, were alerted and took immediate action. Police have arrested the perpetrators, emphasizing the serious legal consequences of obstructing official work. The incident highlights challenges in updating electoral rolls during the statewide SIR exercise.
