The Odisha government has introduced a critical requirement for its employees, mandating the submission of updated annual property statements to be eligible for promotion. This directive was officially communicated by the General Administration Department on November 27.

The requirement arises from the Odisha Government Servants' Conduct (Amendment) Rules, 2021, which lists up-to-date property filings as a prerequisite for promotional consideration. Despite its establishment, confusion persisted among various departments, prompting a renewed circular with clarifications.

Employees who fail to submit by the deadline will be deemed 'not suitable' for promotion, although a grace period provides a chance for reconsideration. The vacancy will be filled by compliant employees, with late compliant submissions considered for future opportunities.
