In a landmark announcement emphasizing women's empowerment, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu declared that women will now be inducted into the Himachal Pradesh Fire Services. The state government, prioritizing gender equality, is set to amend recruitment rules shortly.
Presiding over the 63rd Raising Day ceremony of Himachal Pradesh Home Guards and Civil Defence, Sukhu praised the forces for saving lives and protecting property in over 700 successful operations last year. He also highlighted new maternity leave benefits for women home guards, ensuring job security during maternity.
The 'Safe Himachal' demonstration displayed fire-fighting skills, while the launch of the 'Miracle of Mind' app aims at tackling drug abuse. The state has invested heavily in modern equipment for the disaster response forces, establishing new fire stations and authorizing posts to enhance operational efficiency.
