Pakistan and Indonesia have signed seven agreements aimed at boosting bilateral relations in sectors such as education, health, and trade. The agreements were reached during Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's inaugural visit to Pakistan, where he engaged in productive talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The pacts include initiatives to enhance higher education, provide Indonesian state scholarships, facilitate business development for SMEs, and promote cooperation in fields like Halal trade certification, national archives, and narcotics control. A significant focus of the discussions was on rebalancing a bilateral trade volume of USD 4.5 billion by increasing Pakistan's agricultural and IT exports.
The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia, highlighting their shared values and mutual interests, especially as two major Muslim nations. Both leaders emphasized their commitment to fostering regional peace and are set to celebrate the milestone with enthusiasm in both Jakarta and Islamabad.
