In a bid to extend vital nuclear arms controls, Russia is awaiting an official response from the United States on proposals concerning the New START treaty. Sergei Shoigu, the secretary of Russia's Security Council, communicated this through the Interfax news agency.
Amidst escalating global tensions, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended an olive branch, offering to maintain the restrictions set by the treaty on a voluntary basis. However, this goodwill gesture is contingent upon the United States reciprocating by adhering to the same limits.
