The Delhi High Court has mandated prompt action from social media companies on Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan's request for safeguarding his personality rights. The directive requires these platforms to handle his complaint within seven days as per the Information and Technology Rules of 2021.
Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora noted that Kalyan had already approached the companies with his grievances, primarily concerning AI-generated videos and impersonation issues on major platforms like Google and Meta. The court emphasized the need for Kalyan to swiftly provide URLs of the problematic content he wishes removed.
This case echoes similar legal challenges by other notable figures such as Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan, who are also seeking court assistance to prevent unauthorized use of their names and images, a right encapsulated under personality and publicity protections.
