On Tuesday, officials from the Karnataka Lokayukta launched an extensive search operation across various state districts to investigate potential corruption among government officials. The searches were initiated based on suspicions of asset accumulation that appeared to exceed legitimate income sources, according to official sources.
The focused investigation zones include Shivamogga, Mandya, Dharwad, and Vijayanagara, where at least four officials have come under scrutiny. These individuals are being probed for alleged possession of assets disproportionate to their known income.
Among the officials targeted in the raids are personnel from the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation department in Shivamogga, and an official from the health department in Vijayanagara. The process involves meticulous verification of their financial documents to substantiate or refute these allegations.
