In a significant legal development, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot hailed a Delhi court's decision as a 'victory of truth over power' after it refused to take cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate's chargesheet against Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
The chargesheet, linked to the National Herald case, was dismissed by the Rouse Avenue Court, which asserted that there was no case of money laundering. Gehlot remarked that the ruling confirmed the Congress party's stance that the case was engineered by the Modi government to taint the Gandhi family's reputation.
The senior Congress leader further stated that the charges were groundless and alleged that the ED acted under political pressure. The court noted that the charges were based on a private complaint rather than an official FIR, thus making cognisance impermissible by law.
