At least 104 people, including 43 children, have been killed in a series of drone attacks in Sudan's Kordofan region, according to the U.N. human rights office. Since December 4, these hostilities have escalated significantly.
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, expressed deep concern over the increasing violence, which involves the Sudanese Army, the Rapid Support Forces, and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North. These groups have been clashing in Kordofan, a region divided into three states in central and southern Sudan.
Details on who is behind these drone strikes remain unclear. However, Turk reported that critical sites, including hospitals, a kindergarten, and a U.N. base, have been targeted, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
