Extension Granted for Parliamentary Committee's Report on Controversial Bills
The Parliamentary committee reviewing Bills related to the removal of top government officials extended its deadline for report submission to the last week of the Budget Session in 2026. The decision was made following opposition parties’ boycott, criticizing the Bills for presumed automatic dismissal without proved guilt in legal matters.

The Parliamentary committee tasked with scrutinizing Bills aimed at removing the prime minister and chief ministers received an extension to deliver its report by the concluding week of the Budget Session next year.
This resolution, presented by Joint Parliamentary Committee Chair Aparajita Sarangi in the Lok Sabha, requested time until the first day of the last Budget Session week in 2026, and was approved through a voice vote. The Budget Session traditionally concludes in early April.
The committee, which had convened only once before its deadline, also chose to invite political parties that had boycotted the meeting, arguing that these Bills undermine the legal presumption of innocence until proven guilty, imposing automatic dismissal if officials fail to attain bail within a month for serious charges.
