In a recent address, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla extolled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership in providing decisive solutions to the world's pressing challenges. Speaking at the 28th conference of Commonwealth speakers and presiding officers in the historic Central Hall of the old Parliament building, Birla emphasized Modi's role as a pivotal figure as global eyes turn to India for guidance.
Birla cited India's over seven-decade-long parliamentary journey, lauding it for its reinforcement of democracy through policies that focus on the welfare of people. The speaker asserted that the neutral and impartial electoral system has played a crucial role in ensuring participative democracy, granting all eligible citizens a voice in the democratic process.
He also highlighted the joint efforts of Parliament and the government in repealing over 1,500 outdated laws and enacting new legislations focused on welfare. According to Birla, these legislative advancements are key in steering India towards becoming a self-reliant and developed nation.
