In a surprising twist during Navi Mumbai's civic polls, a recent ward restructuring that allowed electors to cast four votes instead of one led to widespread chaos at polling booths on Thursday. Even BJP leader Ganesh Naik struggled to find his name on the voter list.
Naik, 70, expressed frustration after failing to locate his name at his usual booth, only to discover it was placed at a different location altogether. He criticized the State Election Commission for alleged mismanagement, highlighting challenges faced by regular voters.
Election officials eventually found Naik's correct polling location within an hour. The reallocation of booths is attributed to the altered ward pattern, necessitating additional booths to cap voter numbers and prevent overcrowding amid procedural changes.
