The hearing in the case against AAP MP Sanjay Singh for violating the model code of conduct was deferred on Friday due to administrative constraints. The court has now scheduled the next hearing for February 4, as reported by Singh's counsel, Advocate Madan Singh.
The case, which revolves around an alleged unauthorized public meeting in the Bandhua Kala area during the 2021 panchayat elections, involves prominent figures including district panchayat member Salma Begum. With evidence being recorded, the proceedings are at a crucial juncture. Previously, Sub-Inspector Ajay Pal testified, followed by cross-examinations by the defense.
The case originated from an incident on April 13, 2021, where a gathering was held in support of Salma Begum. As a result, police charged Sanjay Singh and others, including 12 named individuals and 45 unidentified supporters. Following investigations, a chargesheet was filed against 11 accused. While some already secured bail, Sanjay Singh surrendered in July 2024 due to a bailable warrant issued earlier.
