The father of an engineer detained in Iran has urged Indian authorities to take swift action for the release of his son. Mukesh Mehta's son, Ketan, was working as a 3rd Engineer on the MT Valiant Roar, an oil tanker seized by Iranian authorities.

Ketan and the rest of the 16-member crew were reportedly detained last month at Bandar Abbas Port. The incident has left the Mehta family in a state of anxiety and fear.

Mukesh insists his son was only seeking a livelihood and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Directorate General of Shipping for intervention and diplomatic efforts for their release.
