West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken a strong stance on the proper execution of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, urging district magistrates to adhere to the Supreme Court's directives without causing unnecessary inconvenience to citizens.

Attending a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty at the state secretariat, Banerjee emphasized that all hearings must follow the apex court's instructions strictly. She stressed that officials must not harass individuals over 'logical discrepancies' during these proceedings.

To mitigate challenges during the SIR hearings, Banerjee advocated for a humanitarian approach, insisting that valid documents should be accepted without exception and urging district magistrates to provide receipts upon document submission and to organize alternative arrangements for those unable to attend scheduled hearings.
