In Ranchi, a controversy has emerged after a 16-year-old girl accused local police of deliberately releasing three individuals against whom she filed a molestation complaint. The alleged incident took place near a college in the city on January 19.
A senior police officer clarified that the accused were released following the proper legal protocols. The individuals received a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, urging their cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
A viral video shows the minor, accompanied by her mother and others, appealing for the arrest of the accused, though PTI has not independently confirmed the video's authenticity. The family, who filed the complaint on January 22, sees the accused booked under the POCSO Act, yet released after initial questioning.
