Justice Served: 20-Year Sentence in POCSO Case

In a landmark judgment on Tuesday, a local court handed down a 20-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to a man accused of sodomising a 10-year-old boy four years ago. Convicted by Additional Sessions Judge Amit Veer Singh of the POCSO court, the man was also fined Rs 35,000.

The case came to light when the victim's father filed a police complaint on March 21, 2022. The complaint alleged that the accused, then 23, lured the boy to a chickpea field and committed the crime. The young victim later informed his mother about the harrowing incident.

The police promptly registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Based on substantial evidence and witness testimonies, the court found the accused guilty, reinforcing the importance of child protection laws.
