The ministry's announcement comes during a sustained period of conflict involving both countries.
This development follows recent airstrikes by the U.S. and Israel on February 28, which resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several Iranian commanders. In retaliation, Iran has reportedly launched attacks against U.S. allies in the Gulf region.
Rights groups have criticized the Islamic Republic for allegedly using these arrests as leverage to gain concessions from other nations, a claim Tehran denies. Additionally, Iran's Police Chief Ahmadreza Radan stated that 81 individuals have been detained for purportedly sharing sensitive information with hostile foreign media and entities.
