Unveiled: Silent $7 Billion Arms Deal with UAE
The Trump administration has discreetly approved around $7 billion in arms sales to the UAE without public disclosure. This is in addition to previously announced $16.5 billion arms sales to three Middle East countries. The deals include Patriot missiles and Chinook helicopters for the UAE.
The Trump administration has quietly sanctioned approximately $7 billion in arms sales to the United Arab Emirates, sidestepping public announcement requirements for U.S. arms exports, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
This covert deal supplements an earlier publicized sale of weapons worth over $16.5 billion to three Middle Eastern nations, disclosed the same day, the Journal noted.
The clandestine agreements include the provision of Patriot PAC-3 Missiles, valued at $5.6 billion, and CH-47 Chinook helicopters worth $1.32 billion to the UAE. U.S. officials, as cited by the Journal, said these transactions weren't publicly announced as they extend past previously settled arms deals.
