German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul voiced strong opposition on Wednesday to the single-state control of the Strait of Hormuz. He condemned the imposition of tolls on this strategic waterway, calling it unacceptable and urged for its complete reopening.

Addressing reporters in Berlin, Wadephul underlined the global importance of unimpeded access to the Strait, asserting that it serves not only the Gulf and neighboring Asian states but the entire international community.

Wadephul also touched upon the ongoing Iran conflict, advocating for a negotiated resolution instead of military intervention. He expressed agreement with the US president's stance that any such resolution must eliminate future nuclear threats from Iran.
