In 2024, Delhi registered 7,662 cases of crimes against children, marking a slight decrease from the previous year's figure of 7,769, according to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data.

Despite the nominal drop, the crime rate against children in the national capital remained disproportionately high at 138.4 cases per lakh child population, compared to the national average of 42.3. This indicates a pressing concern that continues to burden the city.

The data also highlights the low chargesheet rate in Delhi at 31.7%, significantly below the national average of 61.4%. Among Union Territories, Delhi leads with the highest child crime cases, followed by Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh. Nationwide, child crime cases increased to 1,87,702 in 2024 from 1,77,335 in 2023 and 1,62,449 in 2022, underlining a persistent upward trend.
