Delhi's Rising Crime: Foreigners at Risk
Delhi has witnessed a rise in crimes against foreigners, recording 64 cases in 2024 according to NCRB data. This marks a slight increase from the previous year's 63 cases. The national capital accounted for nearly all union territories' crimes against foreigners. Chargesheeting rates remain below the national average.

Delhi has emerged as the union territory with the highest number of crimes against foreigners in 2024. With 64 recorded cases, the city surpassed last year's figure, reflecting a troubling upward trend as per National Crime Records Bureau data released on Wednesday.
The data revealed that nearly all crimes against foreigners reported in union territories for the year occurred in Delhi. While total cases across the UTs reached 67, Delhi accounted for 64. In contrast, Jammu and Kashmir recorded two cases and Andaman and Nicobar Islands one. Chandigarh, which saw four cases in 2023, reported none in 2024.
Despite this surge, Delhi's chargesheeting rate stood at 46 per cent, trailing behind the 68 per cent national average. Across the country, 257 cases were registered in 2024, with Maharashtra and Karnataka also reporting significant numbers.
