Manipur Border Villages Attacked: A Call for Action

Militants attacked villages in Manipur's Kamjong district near the India-Myanmar border, torching houses and displacing residents. In a shocking escalation of violence, heavily armed militants launched an attack on several villages in Manipur's Kamjong district, sparking panic among residents and causing significant damage. The early-morning assault, reportedly carried out by Myanmar-based militant groups, prompted villagers to seek refuge in surrounding forests.

Local lawmaker L Keishing denounced the attack as external aggression and criticized the perceived security failures. He accused the Assam Rifles of inadequately protecting the border settlements despite prior intel. Keishing urged both state and central authorities to intervene decisively.

Meanwhile, the Southern Tangkhul Students' Union expressed outrage, demanding immediate governmental response and an inquiry into security lapses that allowed the militants' incursion. Security forces, including the Assam Rifles, have been deployed to survey the affected areas.
