Corruption in Maharashtra: Bribery Scandal Exposed

A junior assistant clerk from the office of the Chief Accounts and Finance Officer in Maharashtra's Gondia district has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000. The arrest was orchestrated by the Anti-Corruption Bureau following a complaint by a senior teacher.
According to the officials, the teacher approached the clerk to inquire about his pension ahead of his retirement scheduled for May 31. The clerk, Sandesh Chandrashekar Sambhre, reportedly demanded a bribe to solve an alleged error in the teacher's salary, initially quoting Rs 1.92 lakh, but later asking for Rs 50,000.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau successfully set up a trap to catch Sambhre in the act of accepting the bribe. He has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act, showcasing the persistent issue of bribery in administrative processes.
